Nadien hit me up about showing work in her third Progress Report, a nonprofit art show rooted in Downtown LA and built on community, growth, and honest expression. I didn’t think twice. said yea. Dug into my archives pulled two past works that still speak to who I was. Then I got to work on something new. a piece that didn’t exist until that invitation gave me reason to create it. my progress.
Months passed, and the final work was done.

It started at my desk.
A pile of sketches & cartoon versions of me, just sitting there, waiting. I’d been trying to push something new out, and suddenly it clicked: my desk was the progress. Everything I’d made so far was right there. All I had to do now was bottle it.
I grabbed the biggest frame I could find in time ( 30x30 ) and started filling it with those sketches. But it needed a centerpiece.
So I painted a big slab of cardboard black, cut out my shadow self, and gave it life with white Posca dots as stars or glitter, depending on how you see it.
Then I carved myself into it. My shape. My likeness.
It became more than art for me ... it became a mirror.
